Transform your teenagers life through a 7-day safe and educational guided adventure through the Colombian Amazon.
Safety is what we do
-
Colombia’s unfortunate past has produced a belief in the United States that the country is filled with danger. We follow all US embassy recommendations on potential trips no matter where we go. The US Embassy in Colombia allows the children of state department employees to travel to the Colombian Amazon and has for many years.
-
From the moment we land in the Amazon, a medical professional will be with us around the clock. They will ensure sunscreen is always applied, attend to scrapes and bumps, and handle any more serious medical situations that may arise.
-
We've all seen National Geographic and the incredible variety of wild, exotic animals that live in the Amazon. Of course, we want to see them! However, we will not be in situations where large animals could put anyone in danger. Our main focus is on protecting ourselves and our students from bugs and mosquitoes. We are vigilant about ensuring everyone wears the right shoes, keeps arms and legs properly covered, and uses mosquito nets correctly at night.
-
We travel in a tight pack, and follow a predetermined plan that allows students to feel safe. Our group of professionals include guides from here in Utah including teachers, professional bilingual guides from Colombia that are trained in first aid, and a medical doctor.
-
All meals, snacks and drinks that we consume are sanitary and clean. We don’t want belly problems. All kitchens we eat from have been inspected.
-
Bumblebee has been running this trip for six years, while our partners in Colombia have been organizing similar trips for over 20 years. Our business thrives because we prioritize bringing back smiles, not injuries. From the clothing students wear and the beds they sleep in, to the food we eat and the transportation we use, we meticulously vet every detail.
-
During the trip we provide parents with a link to view pictures taken each day of the trip. We do not allow students to carry phones. But, in the case of an emergency we can be easily reached 24/7.
Hearts and minds will expand as we learn how to prepare local Amazonian food, set up a hammocks in the jungle, kayak with pink dolphins, connect with the indigenous culture, and volunteer with both turtle conservation projects and reforestation initiatives.
